CRAU HISTORY: (CW: NUDE MENTIONS, BLOOD, PYSCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA, DEATH, DECAPTIATION, GORE, BODY HORROR, ETC. SLUMSCAPE IS A HORROR GAME DEALING WITH VARIOUS THEMES OF HORROR/BODY HORROR. )

When Jin Ling arrived in Hakagemachi, he had found himself to be without his spirit dog and his powers. Jin Ling found out that he was possessed by a youkai that never gave its name to him and a mask that could not leave his side. Jin Ling started to wander the foreign land to find answers. He found himself walking into Wei Wuxian during his search. Since he had no idea what was going on, he approached the man. When he made contact, a memory of his mother's death triggered. Jin Ling had front row seats to Wei Wuxian's memory of his mother's death. Two of them argued about his mother until Wei Wuxian made a comment that pissed of Jin Ling. He argued with the other asking why Wei Wuxian was not worth anything. He told Jin Ling it was because no one told him otherwise. Jin Ling, understanding the severity of the situation, spoke with firm confidence that he valued Wei Wuxian and acknowledged him as his maternal uncle. The firm response was met with shock before Jin Ling was hugged to death by the other.

That was where Jin Ling's first memories of Hakagemachi ended. When he woke up again, he was in the middle of a field, without his clothes. He had no idea how he ended up in the field and why his clothes were missing. With a lot of frustration and confusion, he searched for his clothes, and headed back to Hakagemachi. He needed answers to why he woke up like that but the okami had never once explained it to him. He felt gross and just wanted a bath. Unfortunately, fate was not on his side as Jin Ling found himself dropping into danger with Wei Wuxian once more. The two ended up engaging in combat withdorotabu. They attacked the duo without any warning and the uncle and nephew had to fight their way through them.

In the middle of combat, Jin Ling suddenly felt uneasy. That uneasy feeling then put him in a trance. He stopped moving and fighting altogether lost in images of his past memories. Incoherent words and images appearing before him. Specific memory started out with Wei Wuxian talking to him about saying "thank you," and "I'm sorry." The scene then twisted into Koi Tower, where Jin Ling had willingly stabbed Wei Wuxian in the abdomen due to him being overwhelmed with so many emotions. After the fact, Jin Ling had regretted every moment of it and continued to mumble "sorry," to Wei Wuxian, not hearing the man tell him it was okay. Jin Ling also saw blood on his hands and all of that was too much for him. He was taken by the memory until his face was met with a giant smack of his sword. Jin Ling had no idea when he had dropped it but Wei Wuxian had retrieved it and proceeded to hit Jin Ling across the face to wake him up.

With a swollen face and an angry expression, he yelled at Wei Wuxian demanding why he had hit him? Wei Wuxian gave him an explanation for it and Jin Ling felt more embarrassed than anything. Instead of focusing on the hit across his face, he and Wei Wuxian mutually agreed to work on escaping the ambush. With the help of Wei Wuxian's youkai, Jin Ling was able to escape with his uncle to safety in an unknown field. The two of them ended up securing a pendent that Wei Wuxian mentioned could be of use to them. Jin Ling begrudgingly held onto the pendent for the time being.

Just when Jin Ling thought things were calming down, something else happened. This time, it was Wei Wuxian who was experiencing memories that were haunting him too. Jin Ling could hear the voices leaking out in the air. He almost lost himself to them again, if not for the reminder that he had been in the situation once. If he succumbed to it too, then the two of them would be completely lost. Instead, Jin Ling started shouting at him, screaming until he realized it wasn't going to do anything. Instead, he resorted to calling him "uncle," several times so that the man was then pulled from his trance. Jin Ling didn't like the memories that were shared with him, but he obtained knowledge regarding Wen Qing and Wen Ning. This was information he would have never known if he had not seen it in Wei Wuxian's memory. Somehow, the statements Wei Wuxian made in the past with him made a lot of sense. In the end, the two of them had to progress forward.

Following that situation, Jin Ling found himself separated from Wei Wuxian again, and was left his own devices. He ended up running into another teen by the name of Utusume and he helped the teen break through his own trance. He proceeded to talk with the boy and led the other back into town for recovery. Jin Ling once again, found himself running solo. With his unfortunate luck, he was almost attacked by many of the dorotabu, only to be saved by Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji managed to destroy the army of dorotabu and forced Jin Ling to return with him to his shared apartment with Wei Wuxian. Jin Ling learned about modern day appliances and different types of food with the help of the okami and Lan Wangji.

Jin Ling ran into a man by the name of Dimitri during his exploration of the apartments. The two of them ended up engaging in a brief conversation and witnessing a supernatural event. That event led the two to an elevator, of which they got stuck in. Jin Ling, not being good with supernatural and creepy things, was having an emotional outburst. Dimitri helped him maintain his composure by engaging in small talk. They talked a little about each other and Dimitri asked Jin Ling about his sword. He proudly stated that the sword belonged to his father and its name was Suihua.

The following morning, Jin Ling woke up with a ton of cats sleeping and purring around his sleeping space. Jin Ling was confused and a little flustered from the sudden amount of cats in their apartment. Lan Wangji helped the teen relocate the cats for the time being. Jin Ling was grateful for that since, he had no idea what to do with them. He was then offered a morning meal and shared small talk with the older man. They decided to help return the cats back to their homes. Jin Ling was relieved to have all the cats returned. Unfortunately, his relief was cut short when he returned to the apartment later and there were more cats. This time, he and Wei Wuxian discussed on what to do with the cats and Jin Ling was teased for his overreaction. He ended up getting too excited and okami ears and tail suddenly popped out. It humored Wei Wuxian greatly and the man couldn't help but continue to tease him until Jin Ling was red in the face.

After throwing a fit about it, the two of them went through different ways to return the cats once more. After their discussion, the two of them herded all the cats back to their proper homes.

Jin Ling was then faced with an enormous amount of rainfall from Hakagemachi. He also made note to the scattered pieces of masks along the streets. While attempting to find shelter, he was caught by some toads and was chased down the alley. He ran into Gojyo and the two of them engaged in a conversation while Jin Ling was trying to get rid of his enemies. Unfortunately, through their bickering, they were caught by the toads that Jin Ling was trying to lose. The two of then had to engage in combat with the toads. Somewhere in the middle of the confrontation, Gojyo got injured and Jin Ling scolded him for it. Jin Ling did not have a good impression of Gojyo until after their fight. Despite that he still offered to get help for the man who got injured during their fight.

Jin Ling separated from Gojyo and made his way to the ramen shop that was in town. Jin Ling was hungry, but he couldn't find it in him to eat the ramen that was plated in front of him. Something about it made him uneasy. He picked at it until realizing Wei Wuxian also had been there and thinking the same thing. After exchanging small talk, the two of them decided not to eat the Ramen and they delved into the situation outside with the rain and the masks that Jin Ling saw scattered across the town. Eventually, there was mutual thoughts on investigating the matter further.

Once separated from Wei Wuxian, Jin Ling went to gain more insight on what was going on. The most unexpected person he ran into was his late paternal uncle. Jin Ling had no idea how to react, other than point fingers and accuse the man. They had a very complicated conversation about his death and why his paternal uncle, Jin Guangyao had done those things. Jin Guangyao had no idea where to start and he didn't know how to comfort Jin Ling. The teen had been very cautious due to the betrayal and through tears, he demanded that his paternal uncle tell him why he did those things. Jin Guangyao said that he would tell him everything. Jin Ling agreed to it and the two of them find a temporary shelter from the rain to have that conversation. Jin Guangyao told him every single detail about his motivations and reasons. He told Jin Ling about his hard past. Jin Ling didn't know what to make of this information. He was sad, hurt, betrayed. He felt bad for his uncle but he couldn't find it in his heart to forgive him. He didn't even manage to say a goodbye before he abruptly left with a heavy heart.

When he returned to the apartments, Jin Ling locked himself in the bathroom and cried his eyes out without telling his guardians what had happened. In the morning, he found his way to the kitchen, famished from not eating at all the day before. He was rummaging for food when Wei Wuxian confronted him and the two bonded over making an edible meal for the teen.

With conflicted feelings still hung heavy on his heart, Jin Ling wandered around Hakagemachi to clear his head. He was not able to even do that when he saw someone having trouble getting out of the water as if something as dragging them down. Jin Ling rushed to help the person. However, he wasn't expecting the person saved to be his deceased father. Jin Ling, who was emotionally drained, was hit even harder with more emotions. A person that he had never once had a chance to meet in his current life had suddenly appeared. They were standing in front of him and even recognized him. Jin Ling couldn't bring himself to say anything. All he could do was squeak out incoherent responses while being embraced by his father. Feeling safe and protected, Jin Ling was piggybacked to Hakagemachi by his father.

Time did no favors for Jin Ling. Not too soon after his emotional breakdown, Jin Ling ended up being swallowed by the water. When he came to, he was in an illusionary world that was created by his paternal uncle. His parents, and his uncle were alive. They beckoned and called to him, asking if he wanted to stay with them. His uncle too, was stuck in that trance, and Jin Ling could only reason with his uncle as he was being pulled into the hallucination by whatever the water created. Eventually, through a lot of revelations and reminding Jin Guangyao that he owed Jin Ling everything, the teen was able to break his uncle from the trance. The two of them fended off the creature that had been created through their hallucination and escaped to safety. They found their way out of the water and rushed to a nearby shelter.

Of course, if something happened once, it could happen again. Jin Ling found himself following a silhouette of Lan Wangji into another illusionary world that was created by the man. Jin had seen complex things that he would rather not have seen. Unfortunately, there was no getting around it as he was asked to watch it. Memories swirled around the two of them. One of Lan Sizhui and the other about Jin Ling's past. Some were that of Lan Wangji's as well. After those memories played, they decided it was best to find a way out and that was what they did.

Jin Ling always ran into Wei Wuxian somehow. After getting out of the watery mess with Lan Wangji, he came across Wei Wuxian, who seemed a little odd. He followed silently just make sure the idiot maternal uncle of his didn't end up getting himself hurt again. Instead, of being greeted normally, he was put at sword point. Knowing, that there was a huge problem with Wei Wuxian, Jin Ling called out to him loudly and the man realized what he had almost done to Jin Ling. Though, Jin Ling could not get any answers from him, he stayed to help the other with whatever task was assigned to Wei Wuxian. In between all of this, Jin Ling had a text conversation with Gojyo about the different types of creatures in his world and in Gojyo's.

As time passed, Jin Ling found himself wandering about the apartments while contemplating how soon he was going to leave the guardianship of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. He instead, ended up following the smell of good food. He awkwardly found his way to Jin Guangyao's apartment and was ushered in for dinner by his uncle. Jin Ling was pleasantly surprised by what his uncle had made. He was even more surprised by how skilled his uncle was. The two of them share a hearty meal, while having a few casual conversations here and there. Jin Guangyao even asked how Jin Ling was getting along with his father and the teen couldn't help but tell the man all the good things that had happened. He even offered to teach his uncle archery and when that topic was brought up.

Jin Ling ran into Willow after yet another merciless teasing session with Wei Wuxian. The two of them collaborated in collecting poison per a quest request. Jin Ling was amazed by her archery skills. The two engaged in small talk while fulfilling their task. Gojyo called Jin Ling obnoxiously as well, asking for the same assistance. The two of them argued over the phone before Jin Ling stomped his way to where Gojyo was. Together, the duo managed to do everything that was asked of them along with collecting the poison. While suffering from the after effects of poison, Jin Ling teamed up with his father and Wei Wuxian to take photos of the town. The situation turned for the worst as Jin Ling ended up in the middle of his father and Wei Wuxian fighting. To add to the silliness, he had to watch them argue while Wei Wuxian was carrying his father on his back. The confrontation somehow made Jin Ling laugh just a little. He had never seen Wei Wuxian or his father this way. Despite, his shortcomings, the moment was bittersweet.

Things could only get worst from here on out. For Jin Ling, Hakagemachi starting raining blood. Jin Ling found the situation very concerning on top of the massive amounts of mutilated bodies that littered on the streets of Hakagemachi. Jin Ling felt sick to his stomach but had no choice but to keep moving forward. First his paternal uncle found him and spirited him home in his arms. Following that situation, Jin Ling was then led home by his father after he attempted to investigate some more. Eventually on his excursion, he ran into Dimitri who was slouched over. He called out to the man, wondering if he had gotten hurt. He only learned that Dimitri was distressed of a mutilated body of his late ally. The two of them share a very serious conversation before agreeing to set up camp and watch over the bodies, lest other things decided to desecrate those bodies even more.

While trying to find material to set up their temporary camp, Jin Ling ran into Kanae who was losing control of herself because of the rain. Jin Ling tried to reason with her, only to find out that she knew his uncle. She even knew him at his own introduction. Jin Ling was confused but he pressed to help her with whatever assistance she needed for her condition. Eventually, the two came to an agreement to search for the missing sacrificial items and returning them back to their rightful place. One would think that after all of that, things would get better. Unfortunately, it got worst. The blood rain continued, and people were being played around by it. Jin Ling even had to save another person from drowning and led them to safety while trying to explain the situation to them.

Of course, the stranger, known as Eizen accepted the information, but suggested that the two of them find a safer place to take care of things. Jin Ling agreed and the two of them set for the town. When they found their way to safety, Jin Ling parted ways with the man and returned to his shared home with Wei Wuxian and Jin Guangyao. He had learned that his father had disappeared and he couldn't help but feel sad. Jin Ling knew his time with his father was short, but he wished he could have had more time with Jin Zixuan. To his mind off of everything, he agreed to do some charity work, playing music for a nearby establishment with his two remaining uncles. Except, his two uncles had the worst name possible for a band and even made comments about how he named things! Jin Ling was furious about that, only to be confused when their instruments started sounding like people when they played it. The situation became awkward and they had to work their way through this fiasco as well

CRAU developments:(CW: MENTIONS OF ABUSE, AND HORROR RELATED THEMES)

Jin Ling has a better understanding of different types of people, such as their personalities, races, and identities. He's learned to be a bit more accepting of others and their circumstances. He is possessed by an okami youkai who taught him about modern day technology. He's able to recognize these items thanks to the youkai. There are items that are called boons, which help enhance his strength and defense among other things. He's received a few in his time there. They will be listed in the appropriate section later.

He's aware of Jin Guangyao's story. With this information, Jin Ling mended his relationship with his paternal uncle. Jin Ling had not fully forgiven him for everything, but understood why Jin Guangyao did what he did. It is not to say that he approved of his uncle's methods, but he could see the bigger picture. His uncle suffered multiple types of abuses growing up, thus painting an even bigger picture for Jin Ling. Jin Ling still had lingering emotions but he valued his family, and thus trying to look past it and rebuild the broken relationship. He needed time to heal.

Jin Ling house keeping skills from Jin Guangyao, such as sewing clothes, doing laundry, making light meals, etc. While, Jin Ling acted like a young master from time to time, he's learned to be a bit more self sufficient, depending on himself. More than anything, he'd rather not be a burden to the people who were taking care of him. He had a lot of lingering feelings about not being strong enough or good enough from time to time.

Jin Ling awkwardly acknowledged Wei Wuxian as his maternal uncle. In rare occasions, Jin Ling would call him properly by his title. Something which he would get easily embarrassed about. However, he did view Wei Wuxian as his family to some degree, thus why he would occasionally address him as such. He built stronger bonds with the man and learned many things about Wei Wuxian's past through memory sharing. Jin Ling's fully aware of how his mother had died by seeing her death in front of him as one of Wei Wuxian's memory share events. He doesn't blame Wei Wuxian for it and has firmly stated this matter to Wei Wuxian many times.

He's not as ignorant to the world as his canon counterpart. He's eager to learn new things and tried his best to not be a burden to others. Having his father in Hakagemachi, Jin Ling gained knowledge to what kind of person his father was and absolutely adored his father. Jin Ling was able to create memories with his father and resolved a lot of lingering emotions he had regarding his father. After all, Jin Zixuan was everything that he thought his father would be.

He acknowledged family was important no matter the circumstances. Because they took care of him and motivated him to be his best self, Jin Ling couldn't help but be attached to that mind set. He was given to see what it would be like to have that kind of closeness that he missed from home.

Due to being possessed by a youkai, Jin Ling's mental state wasn't the best. There were times where he would lose control of his emotions or lash out more than usual. There could be gaps in his memory depending on how much he wrestled for control with his youkai. They had a mutual agreement but the youkai is mischievous and would not follow such a simple agreement from Jin Ling. It did protect and nurture him in a protective manner, but at the same time, it was a youkai and youkai were known for being quite ruthless. At least, the one that possessed him. Jin Ling would only be able to win control over the youkai, if he remained mentally strong. However, there were moments where Jin Ling would emotionally unstable and those situations would be an opportunity for the youkai to take over.

It was not a violent existence, but it would do things that would be against Jin Ling's moral stance. Because of the youkai in his body, he would occasionally be seen arguing or talking aloud with it. It could seem concerning but it would be absolutely normal.
